Trustees discussed cutting the village-funded overtime patrol from 20 hours per week to 15–16 hours to find budget relief. The chair noted that reducing 5-hour overtime blocks to 4 hours would save about eight hours per month and asked whether deputies could adjust schedules without degrading coverage. County deputies said schedules are set a month in advance and that weekend and weekday options exist; the county’s traffic deputy will also initiate semi-truck enforcement using portable scales on June 2.
Deputy Ryan, who oversees patrol scheduling, told trustees he could arrange to cut weekend shifts to four hours for a June or July start: "If you want me to cut those weekends down to 4 effective in June, I can do that," he said. Trustees agreed to place a formal agenda item next month to authorize any change to the contracted overtime hours.
