Jacksonville council approves minutes and bills list; staff, mayor, and councilors provide brief updates

At its July 21, 2026 meeting the Jacksonville City Council approved the minutes for June 25, 2026, with two corrections to spellings identified by staff ("Forest Park" and "Johns Peak"). Councilor Casaleggio moved approval, Councilor Gregg seconded, and the council approved the minutes by roll-call vote (ayes 7, nays 0).
The council also approved the bills list for July 21, 2026. Councilor Thompson moved approval and Councilor Hellenthal seconded; the roll call vote was unanimous. In staff reports, Administrator Alvis spoke to the lengthy minutes and thanked the City Recorder for her work. Mayor Donna Bowen expressed appreciation for volunteer Linda Kestner. Councilor Thompson commended the Fire Department for its work on the Evans Creek fire in Rogue River and referenced the city's evacuation map; Councilor Gregg reported that a planned museum exhibit opening may be delayed.
