Resident urges Whitney ISD to move meetings to evenings, requests transparency on activity fund and past bond spending

Resident Amy Teal addressed the board during public comment, asking that regular board meetings be scheduled in the evening so more members of the public can attend. "The board meeting should not be at 7:30 in the morning because people need to have the opportunity to attend the meetings in the evening," she said.
Teal also urged the board to post sample ballots on social media to address low turnout in the May election, requested a fuller explanation of the district's activity fund (money raised by fundraisers), and asked for an update on previous bond spending from roughly a decade ago. She suggested tabling expenditure approvals until the next regularly scheduled meeting to allow more public input.
