Shabbecong Mountain Preserve: signage, drainage questions and kiosk work reported

Green Team members reported a site walkthrough of the Shabbecong Mountain Preserve (SMP) conducted April 13 that identified a sign installation location on Borough property accessed from the Millpond Road easement. Mike Franks and Marco Matteo reported trail trimming along the blue trail and additional hikes on April 22 and May 4 for light trimming; they noted garbage at the preserve’s West End that still needs collection.
Jonathan James expressed doubts about feasible fixes to a washed-out drainage easement, and the group deferred discussion of permitting hunting in the preserve for 2026 because current deer numbers do not appear excessive. Members also said Mike and Gary will buy cork tiles, a padlock, stain and a paint brush to finish a new kiosk at the Nunn Avenue entrance.
