The Winona ISD Board of Trustees met in a special-called session May 20 and took three recorded actions: hiring Justin Cowart as superintendent; approving a three-year contract totaling $117,000; and delegating authority to the superintendent to hire certified personnel through Aug. 18, 2025.
All motions carried unanimously among trustees present. Mark Wintters moved to hire Cowart with Aaron Wilson seconding. Aaron Wilson moved to approve the contract and Mark Wintters seconded. Aaron Wilson moved to grant temporary hiring authority and Connie Gibbs seconded. Scott Jones was absent for the meeting, which began at 6:00 p.m. and adjourned at 6:06 p.m.
