South Vernon reconstruction, mountable curb planned for late 2026

The committee heard timelines for heavier reconstruction projects: South Vernon Street reconstruction is slated to begin Sept. 14 (weather dependent) with an expected completion in early November; staff said reconstruction will remove 6–8 inches of pavement (compared with a typical 2-inch mill-and-fill) to address base and drainage issues. Driveways will be maintained except when new concrete aprons need to cure.
At East Cherry Street and South Morning, staff described a mountable curb installation that will require removal of the existing curb and adjustments to sidewalks; construction for that project is planned to start Sept. 29 and staff said traffic will be maintained during work but that driveway and curb removal will cause the most significant impacts.
