Committee hears North Miller Drive traffic-calming and lane reconfiguration plan

Sunbury staff presented striping and traffic-calming work planned for North Miller Drive, saying the corridor will be reconfigured to three lanes in many locations with dedicated left-turn lanes at key intersections and painted chicanes to slow traffic. Staff said the roadway is approximately 34 feet wide and will be striped to create approximately 11-foot lanes; a dedicated right-turn lane will be added between McDonald's and Wendy's.
The work is weather dependent; staff said Griffin Striping was placing initial pavement markings and that if the crew cannot finish this week the work will occur early next week. Staff noted that more substantial accessibility improvements (crosswalk ramps) were deferred to a later phase because those would require additional pavement and ADA work.
