Council approves sewer‑easement vacation after staff says alternate alignment in place

Public Works Director Roscoe Slade told council the city recently awarded a $3,000,000 sewer extension project that provides an alternate alignment and noted the applicant had dedicated a new easement to replace the old corridor. "So this is vacating the old easement. They've already dedicated a new easement or sewer extensions going into," Slade said. With no public testimony, Council moved and approved Resolution 42‑26 authorizing the vacation.
Council members asked for confirmation the action would not affect future sewer plans; Slade confirmed the new alignment and the budgeted extension would preserve service and capacity. Staff will record the easement changes and ensure the sewer extension alignment is reflected in project plans.
