At the Aug. 5 meeting, the services committee reported several near-term street projects and routine maintenance plans. Council member Kaufman (S10) said crews plan a right-only turn lane at the old Cheshire intersection and a lane reconfiguration on North Miller Drive, with paint and re-striping work tentatively scheduled for Friday, weather permitting.
Kaufman also said the city expects a substantial street-improvement project on South Vernon Street between September and November and reported receiving a $1,000,000 grant that will contribute to the Route 37 widening project. "I've got grant for the 37 widening project in an amount of $1,000,000," he said. Council members thanked public-works staff for recent brick and street repairs on Granville Street and encouraged coordination with schools ahead of the upcoming school year to manage traffic flows.
