District reports Narcan training and upcoming Opioid Speaker Series event

The district reported a first Opioid Speaker Series event in which some faculty, staff and parents received Narcan certification and free Narcan kits; the next speaker, Officer Gomez, will present Oct. 25 on how social media is affecting children.
Todd Gulluscio, director of athletics, physical education, health, wellness and personnel, told the board that HUGS presented at the first Opioid Speaker Series in September. He said some faculty, staff, parents and community members were Narcan certified at that event and “they received free Narcan kits.”
Gulluscio said the next speaker in the series will be Officer Gomez, a national speaker who will address the social-media aspects of the opioid issue at the Oct. 25 program. The board encouraged parents and community members to attend.
