The Granite School District Board of Education unanimously approved a slate of administrative appointments that take effect July 1, 2025.
The approved appointments included Wesley Cutler as Secondary Director, School Leadership and Improvement, and Amber Clayton, Wendy Lovell and Briar Mattucci as Elementary Directors, School Leadership and Improvement. Connie Burgess moved to accept the appointments; Kris Nguyen seconded. The meeting record shows President Nicole McDermott called the vote and the motion passed unanimously (SEG 018-024). Note: an earlier consent-agenda vote in the same meeting was recorded as "Called for vote: President Winder" in the minutes, a discrepancy in the meeting record that is noted in the Board transcript.
Board member Karyn Winder wished the appointees well and said she would advocate for Gourley and Farnsworth elementary schools, which she named as losing principals, and urged the new directors to "get behind Superintendent Horsley and the Board to go the direction we are taking our district." She added that the appointees' "talents will help many principals to catch the vision and work to improve instruction in the district" (SEG 023).
The appointments were presented as part of the Board's action items for the evening and require no further Board action; appointees' assignments are effective July 1, 2025 as recorded in the meeting materials.
