Board okays $26,780 payment to Evergy to relocate power lines for John Brown Road bridge

Franklin County commissioners approved payment of $26,780.25 to Evergy Utility Company to relocate overhead power lines and about three utility poles near 1525 John Brown Road ahead of a bridge replacement project.
"We have done the survey, and Evergy had indicated during that process that there is an easement at that location that was signed back in April 1948 that indicated that there is an easement, and they feel that those lines are on easements. So therefore, it'd be our financial responsibility," Jeff said while describing the work. He told the board the relocation would move poles off the roadway to allow construction and that remaining permits were in process.
Jeff estimated permits would be received soon and said crews should be ready for construction in September once permits are complete. Commissioners moved and seconded the payment authorization and approved it by roll-call vote.
