Shelter Island board holds executive session on personnel, approves finance actions

The Shelter Island Union Free School District Board of Education convened an executive session at 5:02 p.m. Feb. 25 to discuss employment matters. The motion to go into executive session was made by Katherine Ross‑Snook, seconded by Tracy McCarthy and stated the purpose "to discuss the employment of particular individuals in the District." The board returned to open session at 6:00 p.m.
After exiting executive session, the board moved into Finance business, accepting the superintendent’s recommendations on item 6.1 and authorizing the administration to file property tax‑cap calculations with the Office of the New York State Comptroller. The board also directed the administration to adjust calculations to include any PILOT payments received. The finance motion was carried unanimously. A motion to adjourn by Karina Montalvo, seconded by Tracy McCarthy, carried unanimously and the meeting adjourned at 6:25 p.m.
No visitors spoke during the public‑comment portion of the meeting. The district clerk pro tem recorded the next meeting date as March 10, 2025, at 6:00 p.m. in the conference room.
