Sherrill Commission approves SEQR determination for pool reconstruction

The Sherrill City Commission voted Feb. 9 to adopt a State Environmental Quality Review Act (SEQR) determination for the city’s pool reconstruction project, finding the action to be an "unlisted action" and concluding it will not have a significant adverse impact on the environment. The SEQR finding is a prerequisite to authorizing borrowing tied to the project and to executing the state's grant disbursement agreement.
City staff explained the SEQR declaration is one of several steps required before the city can borrow to fund its share of the pool work. "This is a resolution of the Sherrill City Commission determining that the action to execute the... pool project is an unlisted action and will not have a significant adverse impact on the environment," the staff member said. The commission moved and seconded the resolution and approved it by roll call.
The SEQR approval clears a procedural hurdle so the city can pursue the next financing and contracting steps; staff said additional design and grant-disbursement steps remain before construction can begin. No public speakers addressed SEQR during the meeting.
