Shelter Island names Lindsay Rando November Employee of the Month

The Shelter Island Board honored Lindsay Rando as Employee of the Month; directors and board members praised her daily work greeting students and supporting staff during the Dec. 9 meeting.
President Kathleen Lynch opened the Dec. 9 Shelter Island Union Free School District Board of Education meeting and recognized November’s Employee of the Month.
"She is often the first person the elementary students see when they arrive at school and she always greets them with a smile and a hello to start their day," Director of Athletics Todd Gulluscio said in presenting the award, noting Mrs. Rando regularly takes on difficult assignments "with no complaints" and supports students and colleagues.
Assistant Superintendent Jennifer Rylott said she had wanted to recognize Lindsay even before the Employee of the Month program was instituted and called her a role model for others. Board President Kathleen Lynch praised Rando’s combination of warmth and firmness and Board Member Anthony Rando, who identified himself as her husband while speaking, thanked colleagues for recognizing her work.
The recognition was ceremonial; no action beyond the announcement was required. The Board continued to routine business following the presentation.
