District approves new cafeteria hires, readies staff training and new program with Aramark

The Shelter Island Board approved several personnel actions related to the district’s cafeteria program at its Aug. 26 meeting, including hiring Luis A. Rodas as a full‑time cook and Catherine Davidson as a food service worker, both to begin Sept. 1. The hires and related extra‑duty/training assignments were approved as part of the superintendent’s personnel recommendations; the motion carried unanimously.
Director of Athletics and Food Service Todd Gulluscio welcomed the new staff and said "everyone is looking forward to quality food and service with a smile." He announced the new hires and the substitute cafeteria worker will receive training on Thursday, Aug. 29. Superintendent Brian Doelger noted the district is "glad it all worked out with Aramark," referring to the contracted cafeteria program. The board recorded both the personnel approvals and related memorandum of agreement items for additional business‑office responsibilities and extra compensation.
