Applicants Kiara Borkas and Jaren Waters asked the board for permission to sell alcohol at a wedding reception at the Codington County Extension Center next June.
"We're here today because next summer, we're gonna be getting married, and we're doing the reception at the Covington County Extension Building," Kiara Borkas told commissioners, asking for permission for Cloud 9 to sell alcohol and transfer its liquor license for the event. The applicants said the event date is June 12 and Cloud 9 will operate the sale.
A motion to approve the request was made and seconded; the board approved the transfer by voice vote and congratulated the couple. County staff noted that Cloud 9 will transfer its license and advised the applicants to follow any licensing steps required before the event.
