City announces community events, new newsletter and GFOA award

Finance Director Molly Talkington used the City Staff Reports to highlight upcoming community events and administrative items. Announcements included a Prescription Drug Take-Back Day on April 25, 2026 (10 a.m.–2 p.m. at City Hall), the Rolling Meadows Fire Department and Park District Pancake Breakfast on May 9 and the Rolling Meadows Garden Club Plant & Craft Sale the same day, the City Human Services "Family Services Day" on May 9 at 2260 Algonquin Parkway, and a 4th of July parade on July 4, 2026 at 11:30 a.m. Applications to participate in the parade are due June 25, 2026.
Talkington also announced the City received the Government Finance Officers Association award for Outstanding Achievement in Popular Annual Finance Reporting (PAFR) for FY 2024, and said a new monthly digital newsletter will launch in May to provide more timely updates to subscribers.
