Sherborn remains at Level 1 drought; state indices show multi-year below-normal precipitation

The Conservation Commission received an update that the region remains under a Level 1 drought designation. Joyce Hastings said the status improved from Level 2 but that continued conservation measures were appropriate.
Tom Trainor explained the state drought management task force evaluates multiple indices looking back three, six, 12, and 18 months and noted the area has been significantly below normal precipitation totals for the past two to three years. "While conditions improved from the previous Level 2 status, continued conservation measures remain appropriate," Trainor said. Commissioners did not adopt additional local restrictions at this meeting.
