Long Beach Island Board approves administrator contracts, summer staff and accepts retirements

The Long Beach Island Board of Education on June 22 approved employment contracts for key administrators and a slate of summer positions and stipends for 2026–2027.
The board approved "the employment contract of Meghan Lee, School Business Administrator/Board Secretary, at the annual salary of $136,321 for the period of July 1, 2026, to June 30, 2027, as approved by the Executive County Superintendent." It also approved a contract for Francis Birney as Principal/Supervisor of Special Education at an annual salary of $153,305 and appointed Mark Bish as Facilities Manager at $96,648 for the same contract year. The motions were moved and seconded and carried by roll call vote.
The meeting approved summer 2026 stipends and positions, including Kindergarten Readiness teachers, a Music Program instructor, summer technology roles and curriculum review stipends. The board also approved annual stipends for roles such as Black Seal license holders, NJSLA Technology Coordinator ($1,500), and larger administrative stipends including Purchase Orders ($7,500) and Grant Writing/Accounting (Meghan Lee, $7,500).
The board accepted letters of intent to retire from Patricia Gerety, effective June 30, 2026, and Christine Conrad, effective July 1, 2026. Both teachers were noted as having long tenures in the district.
