On Aug. 4 the North Platte City Council approved the planning commission’s recommendation to vacate a 10‑foot utility easement at 302 West 3rd Street. Staff explained the subdivision created the easement years earlier but that the actual utilities are located elsewhere and the new owner wants to build a garage in the area that lies within the easement.
Planning staff said the easement may be vacated as long as the owner can show utilities are not located in that strip. Council had no objections and called the question; the motion to vacate passed.
