Granbury City Council unanimously approved a package of parking-related ordinances aimed at improving traffic flow, emergency access and trolley operations in and around the Historic Square and nearby neighborhoods.
Staff asked the council to designate two spaces adjacent to the Granbury Visitor Center as 'trolley only' parking and to create no-parking/fire-lane zones behind Square Plaza to ensure trolley and emergency access. The Misty Meadows area received six no-parking locations to keep school pickup lanes clear and maintain emergency access; staff said the traffic-safety committee (police, fire marshal and public works) evaluated the sites. Staff also proposed permanent and temporary no-parking zones on Deputy Larry Miller Drive to prevent electioneering or event-related obstruction of access; council adopted the ordinances by unanimous votes.
Chris (staff) noted the trolley issues: “Our trolleys get used quite a bit, and, when they come to drop off people or pick up people, occasionally, cars slip in there and park.” The ordinances authorize signage and enforcement to keep those areas clear.
