Board approves 2025–26 school calendar and deletes obsolete policies

The Board of Education approved the Shelter Island School District calendar for the 2025–26 school year and recorded that calendar scheduling is constrained by BOCES requirements, limiting flexibility. Board member Katherine Rossi‑Snook reminded attendees that the calendar is largely driven by BOCES.
The board also voted to delete Policy 3120 (Relations with Municipal Governments), Policy 3130 (Senior Citizens), and Policy 3273 (Soliciting Funds from School Personnel) on the basis that their subjects are addressed in other policies. The deletions were approved as part of the program motion and carried unanimously.
