The Board accepted the Superintendent’s recommendations on multiple personnel items during its Jan. 13 meeting.
Among actions approved were the appointment of Alyssa Prior as an 11th Grade Co‑Advisor (effective Jan. 14, 2025 at $535.33), the abolishment and creation of Schedule C positions for school play roles, amended extra‑period assignments for Jacqueline Sperling, a leave replacement appointment of Kelsey Northcote (effective Jan. 6–Feb. 11, 2025) and tertiary approvals for extra teaching periods for several staff members at stated rates. The Board also approved hiring additional substitute teachers (Lydia Shepherd and Robert Strauss at $125 per day).
In a recorded motion the Board "approves such Agreement and General Release" concerning an instructional employee and authorized the Superintendent and Board President to execute the agreement on behalf of the Board; the public minutes do not disclose the agreement’s terms. The Board also accepted and transferred thirty (30) sick days donated by members of the Shelter Island Faculty Association to Elizabeth Eklund due to extenuating circumstances.
All items in the personnel slate were approved as part of the consent agenda and the motion carried unanimously.
