Superintendent Dr. Brian Doelger opened the Board’s first presentation on the 2025–26 school budget with a theme emphasizing safety, fiscal restraint and excellence. "The theme for this year’s budget is 'Safety First, Smart Spending, and Achieving Excellence: A Foundation for Success!'," Doelger said.
He highlighted recent district accomplishments including placement in the top 18 percent in US News & World Report high school rankings, top 15 percent for college prep in Niche.com, continued strong Regents performance and expansion of college‑level course offerings. Doelger noted the district is in year two of rolling out its strategic plan and in year three of implementing new ELA, math and science curricula.
Doelger reviewed the budget calendar of public meetings: Feb. 10, 2025 (budget presentation); Feb. 25, 2025 (budget presentation and tax levy limit); March 10, 2025 (budget overview and adjustments); April 7, 2025 (budget adoption); May 12, 2025 (budget hearing at Board meeting); and May 20, 2025 (budget vote, noon–9 p.m., school gymnasium). The meeting minutes as recorded in the transcript incorrectly listed the May dates as 2023; Board materials and this report use the corrected year 2025.
