Kevin Keller, a representative for the Grundy Center (GC) Soccer program, addressed the council during the public forum and said the soccer group has not been allocated a budget for leasing the Sports Complex property or for repairs. "there is no set budgeted amount for leasing the Sports Complex property or repairs," Keller said. Keller added that Cedar Valley Soccer Club coordinator Kyle Nelson has discussed assistance and that Cedar Valley is willing to discuss a lease for the facility; Mayor Dr. Paul Eberline will arrange a meeting to proceed.
Keller cited examples from other small communities where groups received financial assistance for fertilizer, upkeep, maintenance and driveways and asked the city to consider options for assistance or a lease arrangement. The council did not take action at the meeting; the mayor will coordinate follow-up discussions with the soccer group and Cedar Valley representatives.
