Consultants outline 1-mile environmental desktop analysis to guide Irwin planning

Dan, representing Sundance Consultants by phone, described a desktop environmental analysis the firm proposes to support planning in and around Irwin.
"Their desktop analysis will look at physical resources: soil, streams, floodplains, etc.; biological resource: vegetation, wildlife and critical habitat; jurisdictional resource: wetlands and water of the US; human environment: land use and zoning, recreation resources, visual and cultural resources," the minutes record. Dan said the analysis would extend one mile beyond the city limit, which the consultant described as the city's "area of impact," and that the study will attempt to identify reasons for loss of aquifers.
Council members agreed the analysis would be a useful resource for considering future developments and for creating a master plan for building in specific areas. Jay Rice, P&Z administrator, agreed to have Dan present the information to the Swan Valley council at their next meeting.
