The City Council adopted Resolution R‑2026‑23 to execute a master license agreement allowing Midwest Fiber Networks, LLC / Cable Com, LLC to install fiber optic cabling in City rights‑of‑way. City Manager Michael Dzugan said this would add a fourth company permitted to install fiber in the rights‑of‑way; Director Joseph Tebrugge told Council that while multiple companies might be permitted, he believes all four installing in the exact same corridor is unlikely.
Tebrugge reported that Ezee Fiber held a pre‑construction meeting and is the only company currently planning a citywide fiber network, whereas other firms are focused on connecting specific buildings, such as a new downtown apartment building. The resolution passed unanimously.
