Audience raises concerns about 'autism' schools; DeSantis pledges crackdown on suspected fraud

A member of the audience told the governor and officials they were worried about new, privately run programs labeled as 'autism' schools that appeared to be operating from nontraditional sites and raised the possibility of fraud. "We're the co workers, sir, that have a number of concerns about, schools cropping up, mostly labeled autism, and it's almost like car washes, cropping up in in storage units," the questioner said.
Governor Ron DeSantis responded that the state is already pursuing cases of fraud in Medicaid and education, urged people to report evidence to the Department of Education and Henry Mack's team, and said officials would act swiftly. "If you provide us the information on that, they will not be in business long, and we will get the money back a 100%," DeSantis said, promising enforcement and recovery if wrongdoing is substantiated.
