City seeks engineering scope change for two localized stormwater projects

Staff presented a proposed scope change for two localized drainage projects in the southwest residential area to adjust basin geometry and add design work so the cells meet a 50‑year storm capacity while avoiding impacts to nearby homes.
Brent Morton told the committee the original design would have required a detention cell nearly up to houses' foundations, so staff recommended hardening the detention cell walls and revising basin geometry so the facility fits within the right‑of‑way and reduces the need for acquiring permanent drainage easements across private property. The scope change includes geometric design for two retaining walls, a materials/planting profile, a maintenance memo, conversion of some CMP to 15‑inch reinforced concrete pipe, and additional engineering services for shop‑drawing review and construction support.
Morton said the additional engineering services are necessary to design to current standards and to assist during bidding and construction. The committee took the item as consent.
