Resident urges committee to reject expanded Fox Ridge/Broadmoor plan

A Mission resident told the Community Development Committee she and neighbors are mobilizing against a much‑larger housing plan for the Fox Ridge/Broadmoor area.
"So we are opposed to the overdevelopment plan for Fox Fox Ridge and Broadmoor," said Vanessa Roberto, who identified herself as a Mission resident and said the project has grown from about 300 units to "over 600," which she called "extremely high for the area." Roberto asked whether additional tax incentives would be expected for the extra units and said rising property taxes make the change especially concerning.
City Administrator Laura Smith responded with process information and next steps for the proposal, noting the planning commission had continued the preliminary development plan public hearing to Aug. 24 and that the plan would next appear before the city council on Sept. 16. Smith also told the committee the city has not begun any incentives conversations for an expanded project.
Roberto said she is organizing neighbors and planned to continue public comment at future hearings. The committee did not take action on the development at this meeting; Smith pointed residents toward the continued planning commission hearing and the scheduled city council meeting as the primary venues for substantive deliberation.
