DOT plans full replacement of Route 127 bridge over Warner River; closure planned April–October 2027

DOT representative Jason Tremblay updated the Warner Select Board on the Route 127 bridge replacement project on July 28. Tremblay said the existing steel bridge, built in 1937, has a deck rated 3 on a 1–10 scale and is on the state's red list for structurally deficient bridges. He described a planned full replacement with a single-span, approximately 120-foot concrete deck and widened profile with 11-foot lanes and 4-foot shoulders.
Tremblay said the project is estimated at about $6.2 million and that the Town will not bear that cost. Bids are due Aug. 13, 2026 with a contract expected by October; construction will require closing the bridge beginning in April 2027 with alternating one-way traffic on Dustin Road and Route 127 northbound near the project. DOT anticipates reopening the bridge in late October 2027. Board members questioned the impact on school bus traffic and whether an Army Corps river gauge would be affected; Tremblay said he would review project files to confirm.
