The handbooks attached to the July 29 packet contain several explicit updates and restatements of district policy. The materials authorize district use of video surveillance on school property to safeguard facilities and safety, while restricting recordings of others without prior consent except for limited, school-authorized circumstances. Student cell-phone and electronic-device use is limited during school hours; the handbooks set out a graduated confiscation and disciplinary schedule for violations.
On attendance and discipline the district materials reiterate the distinction between excused and unexcused absences, elaborate steps for addressing excessive absenteeism and habitual truancy, and publish a detailed code of conduct with groupings of infractions and escalating consequences (from in-school discipline to short- and long-term suspension or expulsion). Handbooks also restate legal notices such as Section 504 and FERPA rights and list a 220-semester-hour graduation requirement with subject hour breakdowns in the high school section.
District officials said the changes are meant to align language across grade levels and to reflect current law; the packet shows the Perry Law Firm reviewed the documents. Parents are directed to the district website for the full text and to return signed receipts by Aug. 25, 2025.
