Trustees unanimously approved the Proposition 28 arts and music funding annual report for the 2024-25 fiscal year, a staff presentation said.
Executive Director Lizette Nejarez reviewed allowable uses for Prop 28 funds (music, theater, dance, media arts, visual arts), explained the 80/20 rule requiring 80% of allocations for certificated and classified staff and 20% for materials/partnerships, and displayed school-by-school allocations and remaining balances that roll into the next year of each site's three-year spending window. "Each allocation has a three-year span to spend the money," Nejarez told trustees and noted sites have until June 2026 to spend remaining 24-25 allocations.
Trustees praised the arts investments and moved to approve the report; the motion carried 5-0 by roll call. Staff said they will continue to support site-level partnerships and recruitment to expand arts participation.
