Staff explained that fair-share housing is a principle requiring municipalities to allow mixed housing types rather than being strictly exclusionary and that ‘‘you are required to allow for mixed types of residential…you have to at least…allow for different levels of diversity of housing.’’ The planner (Staff member) said Honey Brook’s existing zoning and future land-use map already provide for mixed housing forms and that the draft plan should restate that consistency with state requirements rather than propose drastic zoning changes.
Task force members asked for glossary language to make the term clearer; staff agreed to add a definition to the plan glossary and to verify that no changes are required to current zoning to meet state requirements.
