Weatherford city staff presented and the council adopted Ordinance 02025-44 to amend Title 12 of the zoning ordinance to require property signage and online listing for zoning change notices. Planning staff told the council the principal change requires posting signs on properties at least 10 days prior to a hearing and keeping them in place until a decision is made, aligning local procedure with recent state changes.
Planning staff said the legislative changes (cited in the staff comments as House Bill 24 and a transcript citation MCA‑25‑0008) also clarified protest and notice requirements for comprehensive zoning map changes. The council opened and closed the required public hearing with no speakers and approved the ordinance on the staff recommendation.
Staff said the city will fabricate standardized signs, provide a process for applicants to set the signs, and publish zoning requests on the city’s website to improve public notice and compliance with state law.
