Support-staff compensation was a prominent topic during the Feb. 17 collaboration meeting. Group 3 asked when substitute pay for in-district staff changed from $210 to $150 and raised the cost of obtaining a substitute license (noted at about $125 plus possibly another $100). Participants explored whether support staff who perform security duties or work with high-needs students could receive additional pay or different classifications that allow access to state retirement.
The meeting did not resolve these items. Board members and staff agreed to refer retirement-benefit questions and possible compensation mechanisms for support staff to the finance committee for a formal review of options that would fit the district's budget and policy constraints.
