Board okays summer LEAP Academy contracts and district summer programming
Summary

Executive Director Alyssa Mijares said the LEAP Academy and other summer offerings will run May 28–July 18 (with no programming June 19 or July 4), and that the district will prioritize unduplicated students through a tiered recruitment system. Mijares reported 975 applications as of the morning of May 7, with 603 unduplicated students among those applications. She said programs will embed individualized progress monitoring and will use assessments to measure growth in literacy and math.
Staff asked trustees to approve contracts for several providers to serve specific sites and student counts (e.g., 200 students per listed program site) and noted equity multiplier funding will support targeted interventions at high-need schools. Public commenters thanked the district for culturally relevant programs and urged continued focus on measurable student outcomes. The board approved the contracts and programming by unanimous vote (5-0).
