Board approves staffing augmentations for behavior support, TOSAs and family liaison

The Natomas Unified School District board on May 7 approved a package of staffing augmentations for the 2025–26 school year intended to expand behavior supports, instructional coaching and family support for special populations.
District staff presented the requests, which included: one full-time equivalent (FTE) school psychologist for Heredia Arriaga; one FTE behavior specialist; three FTE behavior support assistants (for general education behavioral support); one coordinator (Coordinator 3) and two additional TOSAs focused on grades 3–12 to provide in-class coaching; and a family engagement liaison to help families of students with special needs understand rights and resources. Staff said some of these positions will be folded into LCAP actions and that the family engagement liaison will be a districtwide position rather than school-based.
Trustees discussed placement, expectations for reporting, and whether TOSA training should be standardized. The board approved the staffing requests in a roll-call vote recorded as 5-0.
