The Centre County Salary Board voted unanimously July 23 to approve three promotions in the Sheriff's Office, all effective Aug. 3, 2026 (pay period 17). Sheriff Bryan Sampsel presented the items and stated the requested changes and associated pay rates and budget impacts.
Details recorded in the minutes: Thomas Walk is promoted to Chief Deputy Sheriff, p.c. #21107, at SG-16A(01) — $32.88/hour, with a 2026 salary budget impact of $1,195 and an annualized 2027 impact of $3,415; Jordan Booher is promoted to Deputy Sheriff/Lieutenant, p.c. #21103, at SG-13A(01) — $29.10/hour, with 2026 impact $1,926 and 2027 impact $5,504; and Levi Knoffsinger is promoted to Deputy Sheriff/Sergeant, p.c. #21108, at SG-10D(04) — $26.86/hour (from SG-08G(07) — $25.64/hour) with recorded budget impacts. Sheriff Sampsel moved the motion and Controller Jason Moser seconded; the Board approved all three items unanimously.
