ECAHF readies 50 students for July Summer Engineering Camp, secures scholarships

Chairman Adam Persky said the Eastern Carolina Aviation Heritage Foundation will host its Summer Engineering Camp July 20–24, 2026, and confirmed that all 50 student placements have been accepted. The enrolled group breaks down into 13 rising fourth graders, 16 rising fifth graders and 21 rising sixth graders, and a camp planning meeting is scheduled for July 8 to finalize materials and volunteer roles.
The committee reported one needs-based scholarship request was resolved and noted a memorial donation in memory of aerospace engineer John Bullock from his parents. Staff confirmed funding to support 12 AIG students, totaling $1,800. Members discussed ordering additional camp T-shirts and polo shirts for staff and key volunteers, and supported providing lunch or refreshments for teachers and volunteers at the July 8 planning meeting.
Mary Beth Fennell was identified as coordinating equipment and volunteer needs with FRC East for several youth visits tied to the camp schedule. Committee members emphasized continued outreach to recruit younger students to strengthen the program pipeline and urged members to assist with volunteer recruitment and sponsor follow-up where requests remain unanswered.
