The board formally recognized student‑athletes and honored the student board member during the meeting’s recognitions segment.
President Grant introduced Natomas High School’s boys volleyball team and Discovery High School’s undefeated boys basketball team and invited coaches and principals forward for introductions. Coach Gilbert Pasquale introduced himself and several players by name and grade, and the board applauded the teams’ Golden Empire and Sacramento Athletic League championships.
The board then presented a special recognition to student board member Samara (Inderkum High) for her 2024–25 service, noting her participation in clubs and school events and wishing her well as she prepares to attend the University of California, Berkeley. The board awarded Samara a $1,000 scholarship and a plaque; Samara said the position taught her perseverance and time management. "It taught me a lot about myself and about my own perseverance, my own time management," she said.
Trustees and staff took group photos with the teams and Samara; the board paused for applause and thanked students, coaches and family members for attending.
