Sachiko Penaitsu spoke during public comment to raise a complaint about the district’s special-education procedures and an outstanding request for an independent educational evaluation (IEE) for her child. She said her child is several grades behind academically and described attempts to obtain appropriate testing and services as unsuccessful; she said special-education staff had pursued due-process action in response to her IEE request.
Penaitsu criticized the special-education program, asking the district to "revamp it" and calling for personnel changes; she said she has a history of pursuing due process to obtain services and that she would do so again if necessary. Her remarks were received by trustees as part of the public-comment period; no immediate staff response or corrective action was recorded in the meeting minutes.
