Board to consider changing winter parking ban hours; mayor reiterates ban on chickens and roosters

The Village Board agreed Sept. 8 to explore amending the winter parking ban hours to 11 p.m. to 8 a.m. to give DPW crews more time to clear roads overnight, Trustee Heather Leaman said. The board also agreed to consider raising Police Department fingerprinting fees as part of the same local-law amendment. Clerk‑Treasurer Rick Roberts will forward the proposed changes to the village attorney; if the draft is acceptable the board will schedule a public hearing next month.
Mayor Paul Labas reiterated the existing local law that prohibits chickens and roosters on private and public property within the village and told residents the Local Ordinance Officer would be charged with locating and coordinating the removal of any birds reported. The mayor noted complaints about rooster noise had prompted reminders of the prohibition.
