Village backs Pember Library grant to add handicap door and pave parking lot

The Granville Village Board unanimously passed a resolution Sept. 8 supporting a grant application by the Pember Library & Museum to the Granville Community Foundation for accessibility and parking improvements.
Mary King, president of the Pember Library & Museum, told the board she applied for funding to "install a handicap-accessible door to the addition housing the elevator, and to pave the parking lot." King said those changes would benefit handicapped patrons, parents with multiple children and strollers, and elderly visitors, and that the upgrades would make patron access "safer and more secure." Deputy Mayor Dean Hyatt sponsored the resolution by motion; Trustee Denise Davies seconded and the board approved it via roll call vote.
The board expressed unanimous support and recorded no objections; the library will proceed with its application to the Granville Community Foundation with the village's concurrence.
