Granville raises water tapping fees, citing higher copper and material costs

Following a Water & Sewer Commission recommendation, the Village Board adopted new tapping fees for inside and outside-district connections ranging from $750 to $2,000, effective Sept. 8. The motion passed unanimously.
The Granville Village Board voted Sept. 8 to increase water tapping fees to reflect rising material and supply costs, following a recommendation from the Water & Sewer Commission.
Under the adopted schedule, inside-district fees are: 3/4" $750, 1" $1,000, 1 1/2" $1,250 and 2" $1,500. Outside-district rates are higher: 3/4" $1,000, 1" $1,500, 1 1/2" $1,750 and 2" $2,000. Trustee Paul Garrone moved to adopt the new fee structure; Trustee Heather Leaman seconded and the board approved the change unanimously. The board cited increases in copper pricing and inflationary pressures as reasons for the adjustment.
The fee change follows review by the Water & Sewer Commission at its Aug. 28 meeting and is intended to ensure tapping charges better reflect current material and labor costs. The board did not specify an effective implementation date beyond the action taken at the Sept. 8 meeting.
