Trout Lake council to draft parks plan to meet RCO requirements; community survey planned

Council members said they will draft a parks plan using the 1978 plan where possible to meet RCO requirements, aim to finish by February, and run a community survey on needs such as trails, courts and a water feature.
Pat Arnold updated the council on a recent workshop with the Board of County Commissioners and said the council will write a parks plan to satisfy Recreation and Conservation Office (RCO) requirements. Pat said the council plans to reuse as much of the 1978 plan as possible and will reconcile open-space zoning questions raised by the county.
Pat highlighted that the county will allow specific community plans within the comprehensive plan and set a target of completing the community plan by February. Lucas King agreed to connect Sarah Allaben with Pat to develop a community survey; the council discussed a draft for the October meeting and distribution to residents in mid-October. Suggested amenities for the park included day-use functions, restored tennis courts at Jonah, pickleball, a water feature, gazebo, Nordic trails, a fishing derby revival and improved parking.
