Jason Ferrari of Cepheid told attendees that ‘‘OPOs may submit the VPF form… up to 30 days after the end of the month in which a donor hospital reports a death to the OPO or the OPO identifies a death through a death record review,’’ and said this aligns with HRSA policy.
On the transition timetable, Ferrari stated: "So that milestone date, changeover date for moving from DNR to VPF is 10/01/2026." He explained referrals on or before Sept. 30, 2026 should use the DNR form and will have until 30 days after that month to submit; referrals on or after Oct. 1, 2026 are expected to use the VPF and must be ready for production submission under the stated schedule.
The webinar also includes language (from HRSA staff) that the OPTN will ‘‘transition to exclusive use of the VPF’’ before the end of the year; the transcript contains both phrases. The articles and timeline present both statements without resolving an internal timing discrepancy; HRSA participants were asked to follow up if there are scheduling questions.
