Police Chief Eric Costa told councilmembers that the DUI/DWI enforcement grant carries a $25,000 cap and is 100% reimbursable to the city. He said the grant period runs from November 2024 through September 2025 and any unused funds after that period would be returned to the state.
“The grant goes from November 2024 to September 2025,” Chief Costa said, adding that the funding will support overtime for enforcement shifts and will be administered within the state’s grant guidelines. He said the city would not absorb net costs in the police budget if the grant is used as described.
Council members asked only procedural questions during the workshop; the regular meeting will include the formal acceptance vote if the council chooses to proceed.
