County says road reclaim is about 60–65% complete amid heavy rain; staff to prioritize worst segments

Jackson County roads staff told supervisors Aug. 12 that unusually heavy rain in the past month has caused edge ruts and drainage problems on several non-reclaimed roads and forced pauses in reclaim work when conditions are too wet.
Staff said crews have started cutting intermediate notches to let water escape and will prioritize a subset of year‑1 roads that have the worst damage rather than strictly following the original multi‑year schedule. The presenter estimated roughly 60–65% of county roads slated for reclaim work are complete and said that some segments scheduled for later years will be moved up if they are warranted.
“We're probably at 60 if I had to pick number, probably 65% done throughout the county,” the agency official said while describing weather impacts and mitigation steps. The board asked staff to continue balancing progress with safe working conditions during wet periods.
